Ploughing by Carabao crop

Ploughing to prepare the fields is done in the traditional way, powered by Carabao. There are only two tractors in the vicinity.

Abaca

Abaca Fibre is extracted from the leaves of the Abaca, a relative of the banana tree. Also known as Manila Hemp, it has been used for centuries for a variety of purposes including rope making, coarse fabric and envelopes.

Luffa Growing

Luffa growing. Luffas are grown in ordinary fields and contrary to popular belief are not sea creatures. The plant climbs up poles and then along horizontal wires.

This picture shows farm workers preparing Abaca fibre for string and bags. It is woven to make string and layered to make the bags used for the triple pack.
